Fessenden is governed by a council consisting of one Mayor and six Alderman.

There is also one City Auditor.

All are elected to the council by citizen's vote, and each serves a four year term.

 The City employs one Public Works Commissioner and one Police Officer.

The council meets monthly to review bills and discuss issues.

They are responsible for developing and managing city ordinances, building permits, licenses, etc.

They oversee the financial management of water, sewer and garbage removal.

The Council meets at Fessenden City Hall the first Monday of every month at 7:00 pm. Meetings are open to the public.
